Letter From The CEO

Jeff Martin 2023-09-06 11:25:30

NIADA CEO, Jeff Martin

Last month in this article I encouraged our dealer members to attend the upcoming National Policy Conference in Washington, D.C., Sept. 19-20 to ensure YOUR voice is being heard.

I am happy to report a number of dealers took me up on the invite and registered to attend. We will have more than 100 people walking the halls of Congress later this month discussing important issues, including how to address catalytic convertor theft, the Right to Repair Bill, and stopping the new FTC Vehicle Shopping Rule.

During our visit, we will also hear from several legislators at our various receptions, luncheons and dinners. Senators Thune, Budd, Rounds, Lee, Boozman, Sullivan, Mullin, and Hoven will be stopping by a special reception we are hosting Monday night. Congressman Burgess along with Andy Zay (Zay is an independent automobile dealer from Indiana running for an open seat in District 3) will join us for our PAC Dinner Tuesday night. Congressman Cuellar will be speaking during our lunch Wednesday at the Library of Congress. This will give us a unique opportunity to hear from policy makers and spend some time with each away from Capitol Hill.

If you can’t make this year’s policy conference, you can still have an impact by contributing to the NIADA Political Action Committee (PAC). The NIADA PAC was established to financially support candidates who share our vision for the future of the independent dealer and who will continue to support issues important to your livelihood. Few independent auto dealers have the resources to make large contributions to several candidates for Congress. The NIADA PAC allows independent auto dealers to maximize their resources and speak with one voice in support of their industry.

Simply put — the PAC gives you a stronger voice in Washington, D.C. Your contribution assists NIADA in supporting candidates who understand issues facing independent automobile dealers in our nation’s capital. That’s why your donations to this nonpartisan, federally-regulated committee matter so much.

The NIADA PAC’s strength comes from you and your commitment to your industry. Each individual NIADA PAC supporter helps us stand together and promote the legislative objectives of our organization. Your political involvement makes a bold statement. It tells your elected officials that you are committed to electing representatives and senators that will speak for and protect the best interests of our industry.

Please make your NIADA PAC contribution today. Any amount is appreciated. You may make one-time contributions or set up installments through the calendar year at niada.com/PACdonate.

Now a few words from our compliance team: The NIADA PAC may receive up to $5,000 per year from any one contributor. A husband and a wife each have separate $5,000 limits, even if only one spouse has an income. In compliance with federal regulations, all contributions to the NIADA PAC must be made with personal funds or funds from a sole proprietorship, partnership, LP or an LLC. Contributions or gifts to the NIADA PAC are not deductible as charitable donations for federal income tax purposes.

Donate today to support your industry and make a difference.
