Jordan Little’s presence on the basketball court is one marked by more than just skill and athleticism—it’s a love for the game that drives him. As a senior at Lighthouse Preparatory Academy, Jordan plays power forward for the Lighthouse Eagles, and his passion for basketball has shaped much of who he is, on and off the court.
“I like playing basketball because it’s a blend of competition and teamwork. Whether I’m playing with friends or practicing alone, it helps me focus and unwind all at once.” This mindset has allowed Jordan to find a balance between pushing himself to improve while also enjoying the process, something he’s come to appreciate as his game has evolved.
Jordan credits his older brother, Isaiah, for inspiring him to take basketball seriously. “Isaiah’s a college athlete now and watching him work so hard has really motivated me to stay committed.” Isaiah’s influence isn’t lost on their mom, Sarah, she is very proud of Jordan. “As a mom, seeing Jordan thrive as an athlete, student, and young man is such a proud and surreal moment. It feels like just yesterday he was learning to dribble a basketball in our driveway, and now he’s a senior, recognized not just for his talent but for the hard work he’s put into becoming the athlete he is today.”
But it’s not just family who has helped shape Jordan’s path. He’s faced some real challenges on the court as well. “One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced was playing against strong teams when we only had 6 or 7 players on our roster. It pushed us to work harder and really come together as a team despite being outnumbered.”
Reflecting on his most memorable moment, Jordan points to his junior year, when he recorded his first-ever triple-double at the state tournament. His junior season was also his most successful — averaging 10 rebounds per game. Jordan’s agility and understanding of the game allowed him to play wherever he was needed. As he heads into his senior season, Jordan has his eyes set on winning more games. “I want to improve my shooting and my perimeter defense.”
When he’s not playing basketball, Jordan enjoys playing video games with his friends and finds solace in activities outside of the gym. His senior trip to Italy is something he’s looking forward to, and when asked about his future, Jordan talks about his plans to study business administration and finance with the hope of running his own business one day.
Jordan’s family remains a constant source of support in his life. Alongside Isaiah, his brother, Raiden Dowell, and his aunt, Heather Gerling, known affectionately as “TT,” have been there to cheer him on every step of the way. “My family’s support means everything to me,” and it’s easy to see why he values their presence both in his athletic career and his life outside of sports. With graduation approaching and his final high school season about to kick off, Jordan is focused and ready. “My brother taught me to always be willing to outwork your opponent.” It’s a mantra he carries with him into every practice and every game.
As Jordan Little nears the final buzzer of his high school career, he’s not just dribbling out the clock—he’s pushing toward the basket with everything he’s got. Each practice, every game, and all the late nights spent in the gym have prepared him for the biggest shot of his life. Whether it’s driving down the lane toward his goals or dishing out assists to his teammates, Jordan knows how to play both for himself and for those around him. He’s set on leaving it all on the court, ready to face whatever challenges come next, and determined to finish his senior season with a win—no matter what the scoreboard says.
